Desiree is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She graduated from The University of Texas with a Master of Arts in Counseling and has worked in the field of education and counseling for 11 years. Desiree is Nationally Board Certified as designated by the NCC (Nationally Certified Counselor) certification.
Desiree uses a therapeutic inclusive approach believing that there is no “one size fits all” technique or theory. Desiree truly believes each client has the innate talents to live a successful, fulfilling life. She sees her primary role in the therapeutic relationship as providing a safe environment where a client can explore life issues that might be problematic, then collaborate with each client and empower them to reach their full potential.
Desiree welcomes a diverse clientele ranging from age 9 and older. She enjoys working with children, adolescents and their parents, adults in transition or those dealing with a life event.
Meagan earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and Education in 2008 from Texas A&M University. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was a member of Chi Sigma Iota which is the national counseling honor society, the American Counseling Association, and served as the treasurer of the Neurofeedback Society.
Meagan is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor which is recognized as the premier certification for counselors and represents the highest level of professional standards. She is also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, which allows her to play a crucial role in assisting individuals with substance use and other chemical dependencies.
Meagan completed her graduate internship at University of the Incarnate Word where she assisted individuals in life transitions, relationship struggles, and management of anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. She was also a certified teacher who taught special education and has extensive experience with children's and adolescent behavioral issues.
Meagan enjoys building positive and authentic relationships, regardless of age or situation. However, she has specialized training in early life transitions, from anxiety and social struggles to college readiness. She has completed extensive research on social media influence/addiction and overcoming negative body image and self-esteem. She has specific training in family therapy and enjoys working with couples, as well as parents and mothers experiencing prenatal, perinatal, postpartum, and infertility difficulties. She also has completed additional training in sports psychology and neurofeedback.
Meagan uses cognitive and mindfulness-based therapies along with creative approaches that are specifically tailored to each client’s needs and individual goals. She strives to create a safe and encouraging space where clients can increase self-awareness and self-compassion while also exploring stress-management skills and techniques to maintain a life that they are proud of.
Meagan works with children ages 9+, adolescents, adults, couples and families, as well as groups. She offers early morning, evening, and weekend appointments to accommodate busy schedules.
